THE SCHOLARS' SCOOP

Wednesday’s are especially long-winded for a GSP scholar; a total of 5 and a half hours of intense class time and not a lot of break in between makes for a long day. By 4:30, students are exhausted mentally and can’t wait to waste some time doing literally anything that helps them get their mind off things. Clubs have been the main outlet for scholars to experience some of their favorite activities. Things such as volleyball, quilling, tier lists, trivia, meditation, and tennis clubs have been run during the program. For me, GSPast Their Primers was the perfect club to be a part of.

Every Wednesday at 4:45pm, Katelyn Gardner hosts a club with Bridget Kelley that consists of mini prizes, butterscotch hard candies, and old films. Though the activities vary weekly, the club always has a good turnout. Whether it be bingo night or a chill afternoon coloring while watching the original The Addams Family sitcom from 1964, there’s always something new to experience.

When asked why Gardner decided to start a club centered around older hobbies, she responded with “I love pretending I’m an old person.” In addition, Kelley added that during their childhood, Gardener’s nickname was GG, or Grandma Gardner. And who doesn’t love old people’s candy?
