On Wednesday July 24th, Breanna’s film studies class had their very own film festival. Scholars filed into every seat and began filling the floor, waiting excitedly to watch all the short films. The crowd’s reactions were spot on. The room burst into laughter, or ached with fear depending how the films made the viewers feel. Shrika Chennakesavula mentioned, “All of them had different emotions attached to them, but Killer on Campus really added a thrill for me and everyone else watching because of how intricate the film was produced.”

No matter which film it was, each scholar put their blood, sweat, and tears into creating these short films. With only eighteen people, they managed to put together something incredible. They all worked together to act, produce, and edit. Outside of class time, some of them spent up to “seven hours to finish.” Zoe Derbyshire told us that, “In this class, everyone helps everyone. If you ask someone to be in your movie, they’re probably going to say yes.” This class is a prime example of a powerful and supportive community.

Each film had creative visuals, vivid colors, a sense of humor to engross the audience. Not only did this project enthrall the audience, but it also engaged the filmmakers throughout the 5-weeks of class. Hanna, a filmmaker, mentioned, “It was a fun project as I was able to express my creativity into this project.” In general, this project was appreciated by both the audience and the filmmakers.
