Right after a late Leadership Seminar class, scholars had the opportunity to enjoy singing along to songs while the sun set. Blankets, Towels, and snacks were brought down to the front lawn of Franklin Hall, and friends enjoyed screaming their hearts out with their friends. They also had the opportunity to request their favorite songs, which made the event feel more personal. Songs from a variety of genres played, including; Baby by Justin Bieber, Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield, and Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.
After the first event on the 18th, Faculty and RA’s felt it was such a hit that another sing-along was needed. On the 22nd, after the Scholar Intellectual Buffet, the projector was set up once again outside of Franklin. Scholars showed their excitement by screaming their hearts out to our favorite classic signers, such as The Cranberries, Britney Spears, and OutKast.
Scholars have nothing but good things to say about the event. They felt as if it was lots of fun to stand up and sing, and that it was a good bonding moment to have with friends and the limited amount of time left together. It was a great community event, and nice to hear everyone’s voices singing in unison. It felt great to just let free, relax after classes, and scream without being questioned. The Scholar Sing- Along was definitely a core memory of the program, and something that will be remembered by us for years to come.
